Mirja Lindgren was born into a very creative and artistic family, the music and the arts, in Stockholm, Sweden. Her father is an established musician and her mother is a well respected painter. From a very young age Mirja was the center of attention with her antics, performances and trying to out-sing her sisters and her brother. Weekends soon were occupied by musical theatrical performances for her father and his friends as the audience. Mirja studied piano, flute and guitar from an early age and was always singing in the school choir. And she started taking ballet classes at the age of 3, which later progressed into jazz and show dance. Every year her school held an annual singing contest and she was always highlighted. She was always the lead in every school play. From a very young age she sang back-up in her father’s band.
When Mirja was 19 she moved from Sweden to Miami Beach, Florida and started writing music and recording in different studios. Miami proved to be too small for her to be able to really expand and grow as an artist so she then moved to New York City to join an all-Swedish Pop-group, Popsie, that had already sold millions of records worldwide. She wrote and recorded songs with among others, Todd Terry-who invented house music, and multiple Swedish well-established producers and songwriters.
After performing a lot of music in different clubs in New York, Mirja started taking up her love of theatre and performing in front of the camera by shooting some independent movies, pilots, music videos and partaking in Theatre groups and taking acting classes for HB studios and Terry Schreiber Studio among others. The project that propelled her into following her acting career was starring in the independent movie “Taken for granted” which was entered into the Toronto Film Festival in 2007. Mirja is anticipating this next most important step to see how she can enhance the Hollywood scene.
Mirja’s interests include everything involving the arts – watching movies, plays, going to music concerts, taking yoga classes, dance classes, exercising in the gym, hiking, taking long walks, cooking, enjoying her friends over dinners and just loving life and all that it has to offer.
